To celebrate Amsterdam’s 750th anniversary, the city and the Cruijff Foundation organised the Cruijff Street League, a street-football tournament for boys and girls aged 10 to 15. We wanted to design shirts for all district finalists competing on Dam Square. To create the designs, we went into the city to ask the people of Amsterdam what should appear on their district’s shirt. Their ideas — from colors and icons to buildings and animals — were turned into collages representing each district. With the help from the Students from ROC Noord, we interviewed several well-known "Amsterdammers" to deepen the stories. We documented the whole process and shared it on social media. The street conversations produced funny and surprising results: a hyena for North, a tiger or panther for West, fruit for East, and gold for South. Together, the stories offered a lively portrait of Amsterdam in 2025 — always marked by pride. The project culminated on July 5 at the tournament’s opening on Dam Square, where all finalists wore their colorful district shirts. The details immediately sparked conversations among kids, parents, and fans.
